Old Kempton Distillery, located in the historic Dysart House in Greater Hobart, Tasmania, offers a unique experience for spirits enthusiasts and food lovers alike. Since November 2015, they have been producing a variety of spirits, including single malt whisky, gin, and liqueurs, all made using 100% Tasmanian ingredients.
Your fully guided tour begins with a brief walk through Dysart House, where you'll learn about its history and the distillation process. You'll then have the opportunity to visit the distillery and bond store, where you may even hear some ghost stories that are part of the house's history. The bond store is currently closed to the public due to safety upgrades, but you'll still get to see a glimpse of the maturing whisky and barrels of various shapes and sizes.
After the tour, you'll be treated to a premium antipasto platter filled with Tasmanian produce, and you can choose from a range of Tasmanian wine to complement your lunch. The tour then concludes with a guided tasting of four Old Kempton Distillery products in their stunning Cask Lounge, located in the grand coaching inn that is the Old Kempton cellar door.
Before you leave, be sure to browse the cellar door, which is full of Old Kempton Distillery products, locally made produce, and souvenirs of your visit to Dysart House. You can also enjoy a freshly brewed coffee or tea.
