Sydney Photographic Workshops offers a night photography course in the vibrant Greater Sydney area of NSW, Australia. This course takes place on various Thursday or Friday nights from 6pm to 9pm during non-daylight saving times and from 7pm to 10pm during daylight saving.
The experience begins with a harbor-side briefing from a working pro photographer as the city lights come on and the city comes alive. Participants explore the bright lights of Sydney Harbour and its surrounds, capturing the moving ferry lights, neon lights of the central business district, and the moody streets of The Rocks.
This course is suitable for beginners looking for a fun and exciting introduction to photography or enthusiasts looking to improve their technique. Participants will learn how to expose for mood, capture light blur trails, zooming and light painting techniques, creative portraits at night, and much more. The course covers topics such as night landscapes, night portraits, long exposure techniques, using movement, equipment, safety, camera care, working with available light, manual exposure, composition, working with abstracts, thinking outside the square, white balance techniques, and creative light painting techniques.
To participate, attendees will need a Digital SLR or Mirrorless camera with full manual controls, a sturdy tripod, a selection of lenses, a torch, lens hood, blank formatted memory card(s), fully charged camera battery and spare, and their camera manual(s). A tripod is essential for this workshop.
